Day 55, Valdez

Another wet foggy day.  Alaska has been having an unusually cool summer this year.  We had really good luck on our way up through Canada and while we were on the East side of Alaska but it seems we haven’t had a lot of sunny warm days since we went down on the Kenai and now since we have started across the southern section of the main body of Alaska.  We are hoping tomorrow will be better.  The worst part of the weather is the lack of visibility.  We can just see enough to know it would be beautiful if only we could see all of it.  The road down to Valdez is a beautiful drive even in the limited visibility.  Lots of mountains and lakes and one section that goes through a canyon for several miles with lots of waterfalls.  This one was called Bridal Veil Falls.

Bridal Veil Falls 1

Their were actually 3 falls in a row but the first one totally dominated the others. In fact, the third one is to the far right and may be too small to see.

Bridal Veil Falls 2

We are parked in a small campground on the other side of Valdez on the bay.  If it ever clears up it should be breath taking but the weather reports aren’t overly promising.
