We didn’t get up or out very early this morning. We left about 10am and went to North Pole, Alaska. We were on a double mission, one to see the sights at North Pole, yes it is a Santa Town, and second to find a place to park the RVs while we go to Prudhoe Bay. We went to the Visitor’s Center first. Thought this weather report might be interesting.
We checked Santa Land RV Park and they wanted 33.95 a day. Across from them was the Santa Clause House, a “what do you want that has anything to do with Christmas place”. They had a photo op set up and of course we took advantage of it. I call this a “sleigh full”.
I don’t know who was the happiest in this picture but I ask Santa what he had to pay them to get this job.
We did find an RV Park where we could leave the RVs. It is Riverview RV. We will leave the RVs plugged into electric to run the refrigerator and they will charge us $10 a day. We thought that was a good deal for this part of the country.
We then went to Pioneer Park in Fairbanks. It is a park with some original buildings and some reproduction buildings of the Gold Rush Era. They also have a paddle wheeler boat, the real thing, and a Museum and it is all free. The Museum has a box out for donations and it is worth a couple of dollars. They had some of the best miniatures I have ever seen in an Museum. They are about the methods used to find and mine gold.
