Day 23, Tok, Alaska

We had planned on leaving this morning but it rained most of the night and was still raining this morning so we decided to stay another night.

Wet in Tok

We went to breakfast at 9am, yes, we are 9am people unless we’re 10am people.  This time we went to the “Grumpy Grizz” which is at the junction of the Tok Cut Off heading for Anchorage.  They have free coffee with their meals whether breakfast, lunch, or supper and you know how we like free.  Twila and I both ate for $15 including the tip.

Gary got some diesel yesterday.  It is $3.899 here in Tok.  I still have about a half tank and have decided to go to Fairbanks before filling up again.  I think it will be cheaper there with more competition.  Hope I’m right.

Just a quick word about Tok.  Tok has a permanent population of about 1500 and is distinct in that if you drive from the lower 48 to Alaska you have to come through Tok.  We will have to come back through Tok when we go to Haines, Alaska in July to get on the ferry.
