Day 12, Watson Lake, Yukon

It was really nice to stop for a couple of days.  We went up to the RV restaurant at 9am and had a leisure breakfast.  It was $7.49 for either Ham, Bacon, or Sausage with 2 eggs, toast, and hash browns.  It was goooood!  We are planning on going back in the morning before we leave.

After breakfast Gary drove out to the Watson Lake Airport.  The airport was here before there was a road.  The Air Corp used it to supply Russia during the Lend Lease Program prior and after America got into WWII.  I hope the following pictures are as interesting to others as they were to me, but they tell the story better than I could.

I don’t know about you but I have never heard about what Russia received.  Don’t you know that would make everyone that lived through that era happy to know that while they were rationed for food and gasoline that someone in Russia was getting silk.

These pictures are self explanatory.  There were other women than “Rosie Riveter” in the war.

Can you say spirit of America?

Yesterday I spoke of the RV Park but thought you might be interested in seeing it.  Gary and I just barely got both of our RVs in the room allowed.  It’s a good thing we’re good friends.
