Day 73, Petersburg, Alaska

We loaded on the ferry this morning headed to Petersburg, Alaska.  The loading was fairly easy but different than anytime before.  This time we went in from the side like we did the first time but they had me pull to the front and then back into position on the same side we came in on.

It was a good trip but long.  It took about 11 1/2 hours.  We saw a bunch of whales.  My picture doesn’t show much of the whales but it does show that there were 3 all in one area.  I would guess we saw at least 2 dozen whales on the trip.

Lots of whales

As usual the scenery was fantastic.

The city of Petersburg is really picturesque.  It was formed by people of Norwegian descent.  Several of the buildings are built on stilts out over the water.

Coming into Petersburg

We drove out to a campground about 6.5 miles south of the Ferry Terminal and got parked close to 8:30pm.  We will be here 4 nights at $28 + tax a night.  The total was $118.72.
