It’s a wet and dreary day today. It started raining last night after we went to bed and is still at it. We have our usual lake in front of the motor home. The “Group” loaded up about 11:30am and headed to a local seafood restaurant and then headed over to the island to the Marine Institute. The Marine Institute is run by the University of Texas. It is a small, and the key word is FREE, museum. We may play cards later.
Twila and I went to carving classes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The classes were at another RV park over in Fulton, Texas. I took a class in deep relief carving and Twila took a class in chip carving. We started class at 9am, took a quick lunch and then stayed until 4pm. After 3 days we were exhausted. Neither one of us got finished with our project but I took more wood off the board than I have in two years on the other carving that I had started. I am going to include a picture of both carvings but remember they aren’t finished. If or when we finish them I will try to post a picture again.
I remember I had said I would post some of the carvings at the Wood Carvers Show Twila and I helped with here in Aransas Pass.
This is an example of chip carving by the lady that taught Twila’s class.
This is the carving that won “Best of Show, People’s Choose” and most everything else.
