Bus Trip to Progresso Mexico

A bunch of us got up early and went to the club house to wait for the bus to take us to Progresso, Mexico.  Progresso is a regular visit for us every year and we generally go down on the bus for the first trip.  It is $35 each and the bus goes across the border and parks in the parking lot of a nice Mexican Restaurant.  We buy Twila’s prescriptions down there and save several hundred dollars a year.  We buy one prescription in 1 mg instead of 1/2 mg and pay about half what the 1/2 mg costs at Wal Mart besides being able to break it into and make it go 2 months instead of 1 month.  It makes you understand just how much the drug companies are over charging us.  Here is a few of us waiting on the bus at about 6:15 am.

The bus trip takes about 3 1/2 hours with us getting there about 10am then everyone heads out to do their shopping and we all meet back at the restaurant for lunch and then head back for more shopping.  The bus is parked in an enclosed parking area so the bottom of the bus is let open and we just stop by and drop off our purchases in the storage area of the bus.

Progresso is different than a lot of border towns, it is for shopping only.  There aren’t any of the topless bars or that kind of thing at least on the main drag and I don’t think their are any period.

Dress Shop

This is as raunchy as it gets and it's actually a bar that is open to the street.

Red Panty Bar

I’m not really sure how good burro tacos are since I didn’t visit this restaurant.  I really hope that is Spanish for Burrito.

Burro anyone

We arrived back at Aransas Pass about 7:30 p.m. which made it a very long day.  When we got back we all went to Dairy Queen for supper as our wives said they weren’t cooking.
